1. Sabi Sands

This private game reserve has been aptly dubbed, as South Africa’s most iconic safari game reserve. In fact the Kruger National park, which the game reserve borders, considers Sabi Sands to be a flagship partner in conservation. Granted it’s privately owned, but the animals freely roam between the Kruger and Sabi Sands without any fences between the two. As a result you’ll find that Big 5 sightings are frequent, and over 300 bird species to delight in.

Our go-to place to stay in the Sabi Sands game reserve, is Lion Sands Ivory Lodge. It’s beyond exclusive, 8 sprawling villas, are designed to embrace the natural surroundings. They feature outdoor showers, viewing decks with private plunge pools, and glassed-in opulent bedrooms. The lodge is strategically elevated, giving its guests an amazing overlook of the Sabi River that flows nearby. Gourmet cuisine and top-class safari guides round off this extraordinary experience.

2. Northern Serengeti

The northern district of the Serengeti is famous for the great wildebeest migration between the months of July and October. However, what many don’t know is that outside of this peak time you can still see large amounts of wildlife without the disturbance of too many safari vehicles at a sighting. The north also offers the discerning tourist a sense of remoteness and off the beaten track feeling, compared to the central Serengeti.

Where to stay:

Kaskaz Mara is one of the more affordable luxury tented safari camps in Tanzania, offering 4 star prices for a 5 star experience. This tented camp is built in a semi permanent style, allowing for a sense of adventure while staying in custom made large explorer style tents of the early pioneers. The 10 luxurious tents are unusually spacious and comfortable. The staff are incredibly attentive, locals who have built and invested their own passion into building these camps. The camp is very close to the famous Mara river wildebeest and zebra crossings that go over into Kenya in July/ August. They are also a short drive from Kogatende airstrip, the gateway to this northern region.

3. Cape Town

We’re itching to get you over to our home city, Cape Town. You’ll behold the new 7th natural wonder of the world, Table Mountain, with its glorious setting. It’s situated in the Cape Peninsula, and forms part of a fantastic national park, preserving the smallest floral kingdom in the world. Table Mountain National Park consists mostly of a coastal mountain range stretching from Signal Hill south for 90 km’s to Cape Point and the south western tip of Africa.

Cape Town is ideal for outdoor enthusiasts during its summer months (Dec – March). However, in June through till November you’ll be able to whale watch around the Cape of Good Hope. This will add that salty flavor to your trip, and wet your appetite for more.

4. Victoria Falls

These 100m high natural waterfalls, speak for themselves as the grand diamond of Africa. The falls are classed within the 7 Wonders of the World, and it’s not very hard to see why. They’re surrounded by the lush, Zambezi National Park. Which provides a picturesque rain forest setting, with a column of permanent mist rising from the deep gorges below.

Chundu Island Lodge is situated on a 1.4 km long island in the Zambezi River. The lodge is designed as a fusion of beach and safari, with 8 spacious, island-style, guest suites. The owners have chosen to include all your meals and the majority of the popular activities, at a surprisingly affordable rate. You can enjoy the solitude of the island with Victoria Falls town not too far away, but without the sense of mass tourism on your doorstep .
